Don't get me wrong... I do have friends

So it is 7:15pm on Wednesday and I don't have to work tomorrow - should be cause for rejoicing, or drinking at least but I'm not. Instead I am sitting at home, alone resorting to some very low, shameful behaviors including the majority of the following:

Watching Hillary Duff starring in "A Cinderella Story" on ABC Family
Lounging in my pajamas with Penny (well she is on the floor)
Drinking more than 1 Diet Coke
Enjoying a Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy
Half Reading Jen Lancaster's new book and some great "feel good" magazines such as Woman's Health.

And then it dawns on me, I have no friends.

I mean, I have friends... just no friends who are in town because they've:
a. gone home for the 4th of July
b. don't live in the same state as me
c. actually have to work tomorrow
d. are being punks and not returning my texts

Have you ever scrolled through your phone and gotten to the Zs and realized there's no one you can call? When you get out of college and already know the people you work with... how to people make friends?

In college, your best friends were always 2 dorm rooms over from you and now my college friends live in 4 or 5 different states. I've made some great friends through work, I even live with one of our old interns, but I feel like it should be easier to meet friends. I play on 2 co-ed volleyball teams and have met people through that, but no amazing friends. I miss having that huge group of friends that you could call and walk over to their houses and watch Sex and the City with.

Don't even get me started on meeting boys to date...

So anyway, I am going to attempt to enjoy my night off of not having to get up for work tomorrow and hope I don't resort to walking down to Cold Stone and eat my feelings in a Birthday Cake Sundae.

I totally know what you mean!! It is really sad to get older and realize that your friends kind of dwindle away. The move away, get married, have kids, and just get new lives. I miss those college days too!! I want my friend available now!

I work on a quality not quantity basis with friends, and enjoy me time. Hell sometimes I feel downright unsociable. Then I snap out of it :o)
